Overview

The Tesla Cybercab represents Tesla's vision for point-to-point autonomous mobility. Unveiled as a purpose-built two-seater robotaxi, the Cybercab is designed to eliminate driver intervention entirely by removing the traditional steering wheel and pedals. Built around an ultra-efficient platform, the vehicle targets a low cost per mile to undercut public transport and traditional ride-hailing services, positioning itself as a core component of Tesla's dedicated autonomous taxi network.

Key Features

  • Full driverless design without any steering wheel or pedals
  • Dual motorized butterfly doors that open automatically
  • Inductive wireless charging for faster charging
  • Simplified two-seat interior focused on passenger comfort and entertainment during travel
  • Next-generation vision-only autonomous suite powered by Tesla's latest AI hardware
  • Polyurethane roof panels with embedded pigmentation to eliminate traditional paint

Design & Interior

Visually, the Cybercab draws clear inspiration from the futuristic, angular aesthetics of the Cybertruck combined with streamlined aerodynamic efficiency found in other Tesla models. It features a sweeping single-curve roofline, front and rear light bars, sharp body lines, and aero-optimized solid disc wheel covers. Notably, the exterior drops traditional side mirrors and a rear window, relying entirely on integrated cameras and sensors to monitor the vehicle's surroundings.

The cabin is stripped of virtually all driver-centric equipment, creating an uncluttered layout centered around passenger convenience. Two sculpted seats face a minimalist dashboard with only a massive central infotainment touchscreen. With no steering column, instrument cluster, or center console controls, knee room and legroom are maximized for both occupants. Ambient lighting runs across the dashboard perimeter, while standard Tesla minimalism is elevated through durable, easy-to-clean materials engineered for high-frequency fleet use.

Other Technical Specifications

The Cybercab utilizes a single-motor electric powertrain paired with a compact 48 kWh battery pack. Optimized for urban efficiency, the vehicle targets an energy consumption rate of approximately 5.5 miles per kWh, enabling an estimated driving range of up to 293 miles on a single charge. To facilitate fully automated operations in fleet depots, the vehicle includes high-efficiency wireless inductive charging pads rated above 90% efficiency whilst keeping standard connectors for rapid charging.

Production Plans

Tesla intends to produce the Cybercab as a low-cost volume vehicle, aiming for a consumer price tag of £25,000 for personal ownership alongside its main role in the Tesla Robotaxi fleet. Manufacturing and platform testing have taken place at Gigafactory Texas, with full-scale production scheduled to ramp up to support commercial deployment across major cities.
