Design
Moving beyond the rounded shapes of smaller siblings, the Smart #5 adopts a boxier, more rugged, outdoor-inspired aesthetic. The exterior features upright proportions, clean horizontal light bars at the front and rear, and flush door handles for aerodynamic efficiency. Higher trim levels enhance this off-road look with roof rails, skid plates, and robust lower cladding.
Interior
Inside, the cabin prioritises a digital-first experience combined with high-grade materials. The focal point of the dashboard is two 13-inch OLED displays for central infotainment and front passenger entertainment, complemented by a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 25.6-inch augmented reality head-up display. Powered by an AI-driven interface with a virtual assistant, the system provides rapid responsiveness. Ambient lighting with 256 customizable colours decorates the cabin, while an optional 21-speaker Sennheiser Dolby Atmos sound system delivers immersive audio performance.

The Smart #5 range offers both single-motor RWD and dual-motor AWD configurations. Entry-level Pro models utilize a 74kWh battery paired with a 250 kW rear motor, achieving 0-62 mph in 6.9 seconds and a range of 288 miles. Upgrading to the Pro+ or Premium trim introduces a 100 kWh battery with a 267 kW rear motor, extending the range up to 366 miles. The AWD Pulse and Summit Edition deliver 432 kW, while decreasing the range slightly. Models equipped with the 100 kWh battery utilize a 800V setup capable of peak DC charging speeds up to 400 kW, enabling a 10% to 80% recharge in 18 minutes.
Practicality
Thanks to a generous wheelbase, rear passenger legroom and headroom is exceptional, with optional powered backrests and heated outer rear seats. Boot space stands at 630 litres with all seats in place, expanding to 1,530 litres when the 60/40 split-folding rear seats are stowed flat.
