Design
Tesla has refined the Model Y's exterior to adopt the sleeker design language introduced on the Model 3. The front swaps out the former rounded nose for a crisp, full-width LED light bar and ultra-slim headlights, giving the vehicle a more purposeful stance. The overall teardrop silhouette remains focused on aerodynamics, featuring flush door handles, updated lower bumpers, and active aero shutters that keep the drag coefficient low. Around the rear, the vehicle gains a striking edge-to-edge light bar that spans the tailgate, housing glowing Tesla lettering embedded directly within. Aerodynamically-optimized wheel designs ranging from standard 19-inch alloys to optional 20-inch or 21-inch sizes are wrapped in noise-reducing acoustic tyres designed to suppress road noise.
Interior
The revised cabin represents a dramatic step forward in material quality, isolation, and user comfort. Gone are the harsh plastics and inconsistent panel gaps of earlier cars, replaced by plush textiles, synthetic suede door inserts, and customizable 360-degree ambient LED lighting strips. The minimalist dashboard centers around a 15.4-inch HD touchscreen that controls all core vehicle functions, climate settings, and media with lightning-fast responsiveness. Gear stalks have been re-added following a recent update. Front occupants benefit from power-adjustable, heated, and ventilated seats. Rear passengers enjoy generous legroom, heated outer seats, dedicated air vents, and an 8-inch rear control screen mounted to the back of the centre console for media and climate adjustments. Acoustic double-glazed glass across all windows dramatically reduces road noise at motorway speeds.

Tesla offers the Model Y across a single-motor and dual-motor AWD configuration. The Long Range RWD model has a battery capacity of 78kWh, slashing the 0-62mph acceleration in 6.9 seconds while yielding an impressive range of 378 miles. Dual-motor Long Range AWD variants add a front electric motor and increase the battery capacity to 79kWh, generating instantaneous traction, 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds, and a range of 387 miles. Max DC rapid charging speeds reach up to 250kW on V3 and V4 Superchargers, permitting a 10% to 80% charge in roughly 22 minutes. The re-engineered frequency-selective dampers deliver a vastly smoother, more compliant ride over standard road surfaces compared to older models.
Practicality
Practicality remains one of the greatest strengths of the Model Y, offering cargo space that humbles traditional European rivals. The rear boot provides 854 litres of capacity up to the roof line in five-seat mode, expandable to 2,118 litres with the 40/20/40 split-folding rear seats laid completely flat. A massive underfloor storage cavity beneath the primary boot deck easily swallows luggage or charging cables, while a 117-litre frunk provides additional storage. Tesla also offers a 7-seat layout option on the Long Range AWD trim, introducing two pop-up seats in the third row best suited for children or short trips.

The Tesla Model Y range starts at £48,990 for the Long Range RWD variant, while the Long Range AWD comes in at £51,990 with the 7-seater optioned at £54,490.
