Positioned at the apex of the performance EV market, it directly challenges high-end electric competitors like the Lucid Air and Polestar 5, while providing the driving involvement expected of a true Porsche sports car.
Design
The Taycan retains its distinctive low-slung stance and signature four-point LED headlight graphics. Up front, reworked air intakes and active aerodynamics optimize drag and cooling efficiency. The side features flush door handles, muscular rear arches, and clean surfaces, leading back to a full-width rear light bar with illuminated Porsche lettering. An active rear spoiler extends at speed to maximize downforce or efficiency depending on the selected drive mode.
Interior
The driver-centric cabin combines digital tech with high-end craftsmanship. A curved, standalone 16.8-inch digital instrument cluster dominates the dashboard, complemented by a 10.9-inch central infotainment display and an optional passenger touchscreen. Seating ergonomics are low and sport-focused, offering superb forward visibility. Build quality is top-tier, featuring sustainable leather-free interior trim options, precise tactile controls, and high-grade materials throughout.
Performance & Powertrains
The Taycan lineup spans from RWD to hypercar-rivalling AWD models, using an 800V architecture paired with a two-speed rear transmission. The base RWD Taycan generates up to 402hp on overboost and achieves 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds. Upgrading through the range, the dual-motor Taycan 4S produces 536hp, the Turbo develops 871hp, and the Turbo S hits 938hp for a 0-62mph sprint of 2.4 seconds. Two battery capacities are available. An 89kWh Performance Battery and a 105kWh Performance Battery Plus. The maximum range reaches up to 434 miles on the RWD model equipped with the larger 105kWh battery. DC fast-charging speeds reach up to 320kW, enabling a 10% to 80% charge in 18 minutes. Adaptive air suspension is fitted as standard, with the optional Porsche Active Ride system offering active wheel control to keep the body flat through cornering, acceleration, and braking.
Practicality
Cabin space is optimized for four adults in a standard 2+2 layout, with an optional 2+1 rear seating setup for short-trip three-across capacity. The rear luggage compartment offers 407 litres of capacity in standard models, supplemented by a 84-litre frunk suitable for charging cables and small bags. Rear legroom is adequate for adults, though the sloping roofline slightly restricts headroom for taller passengers.

Pricing for the Taycan begins at £88,400 for the base RWD model, rising to £94,000 for the 4S, £135,200 for the Turbo, and £162,200 for the Turbo S. The EV Hub recommended configuration is the Taycan 4S with the 105kWh Performance Battery Plus, which delivers an optimal balance of all-weather dual-motor traction, 536hp performance, and up to 400 miles of range without pushing into the significantly higher price bracket of the Turbo variants.
