Overview
The Lucid Air is a flagship luxury electric saloon engineered by California-based Lucid Motors, positioning itself directly against established EVs such as the Porsche Taycan, BMW i7, and Mercedes-Benz EQS. Built on an in-house 926V architecture, the Air combines record-breaking efficiency, range, and supercar-rivaling performance. It sets a strong benchmark in the executive EV sector by offering an uncompromising blend of range, power, and high-end executive refinement.
Design
The exterior of the Lucid Air is defined by a sleek, aerodynamic design language. Achieving a class-leading drag coefficient of 0.197 Cd, the ultra-low profile maximizes airflow efficiency through functional bonnet scoops, front air curtain inlets, and a fully enclosed underbody. The front features ultra-thin Micro Lens Array LED headlights, complemented by a seamless full-width rear light bar and an integrated bootlip spoiler. The side silhouette is highlighted by pop-out flush door handles, optional two-tone paint, and aerodynamic alloy wheels ranging from 19 inches to 21 inches.
Interior
Inside, the cabin features premium materials including Nappa leather, Alcantara, and sustainably sourced open-pore wood trim. Driver interaction centers around a 34-inch curved Glass Cockpit display with 5K resolution, which splits into dedicated instrument, infotainment, and lighting panels. Beneath it sits a retractable center console touchscreen called the Pilot Panel, which folds upwards into the dashboard to reveal a spacious hidden storage compartment. An available full-length panoramic glass canopy floods the interior with natural light. Seat comfort is exemplary, offering 20-way power adjustment, heating, ventilation, and massage functionality for front occupants.

Performance & Powertrains
The Lucid Air powertrain lineup spans single-motor RWD and multi-motor AWD configurations. The entry-level Pure RWD features an 88kWh battery pack with 430 bhp, delivering a 0-60 mph time of 4.5 seconds and a range of up to 516 miles. Moving up, the mid-tier Touring AWD generates 620 bhp and achieves up to 484 miles of range. The flagship Grand Touring AWD produces 819 bhp, covering 0-60 mph in 3.0 seconds with a market-leading range of 596 miles using its larger 118kWh battery pack. At the extreme end, the tri-motor Air Sapphire produces 1,234 bhp, accelerating from 0-60 mph in 1.89 seconds with a range of over 431 miles. Thanks to its 926V charging system, the Air supports DC fast charging speeds up to 400kW, adding 200 miles of range in just 12 minutes. Driving dynamics benefit from adaptive air suspension and low center of gravity, delivering composed high-speed stability and sharp cornering response.
Practicality
The Lucid Air delivers exceptional interior packaging due to its space-efficient electric drivetrain. Despite having a mid-size executive saloon footprint, the interior provides legroom comparable to full-size, long-wheelbase luxury cars. Boot space is impressive with a 456-litre rear luggage compartment accessed through a wide clamshell opening, complemented by a massive 283-litre frunk, making it one of the largest storage capacity offerings in the electric saloon segment. Seating flexibility accommodates 5 adults comfortably, with rear footwells engineered deeper on entry models to maximize rear passenger foot space.
Buying
Pricing for the Lucid Air lineup starts from approximately £73,000 for the base Pure RWD, climbing to around £85,000 for the Touring AWD, £112,000 for the Grand Touring AWD, and up to £213,000 for the track-focused Sapphire. The EV Hub recommended configuration is the Lucid Air Grand Touring AWD, which strikes the ideal balance between high-end performance, winter-ready four-wheel traction, luxurious interior appointments, and an outstanding range at a relatively reasonable price point.
