The Polestar 4 is a fully electric D-segment SUV coupe positioned directly between the Polestar 2 and the larger flagship Polestar 3. Built on parent company Geely's Sustainable Experience Architecture, it bridges the gap between low-slung performance saloons and traditional high-riding crossovers. Challenging established premium contenders like the Audi S6 e-tron, BMW i3, and Tesla Model 3, the vehicle emphasizes striking aerodynamically efficient styling paired with brand-defining Scandinavian minimalism.
Design
The exterior identity of the Polestar 4 introduces a modern evolution of the brand's design language, highlighted by dual-blade LED headlights that modernise the signature Thor's Hammer motifs. Featuring an aggressive, low-slung nose and flush door handles, its defining design element is the complete removal of the rear window. By eliminating it, designers were able to extend the sunroof backwards, creating an unbroken sweeping fastback shape while simultaneously maximizing rear head clearance. Standard full-length glass panelling extends past the heads of rear passengers, with optional electrochromic glass providing adjustable tint control. Rear visibility is given to a roof-mounted high-definition feed beamed directly to an adjustable digital mirror.
Interior
Inside, the Polestar 4 features a landscape-oriented 15.4-inch central touchscreen running a bespoke Android Automotive OS, complemented by a 10.2-inch digital driver display and an available 14.7-inch projection head-up display. High emphasis is placed on sustainable materials, incorporating Tailored Knit textile upholstery crafted from recycled PET bottles alongside MicroTech bio-attributed vinyl and traceable Nappa leather options. The removal of the rear screen allows rear occupants to sit further back, framed by ambient lighting inspired by the solar system. Front occupants receive multi-way electrically adjustable heated seats with memory functions, while an optional Harman Kardon audio setup integrates 16 speakers including headrest-mounted drivers.
Performance & Powertrains
Every variant of the Polestar 4 utilizes a 100 kWh NMC battery pack operating on a 400V architecture. The Long Range Single Motor uses a RWD setup delivering 272 hp and 343 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 7.1 seconds, achieving a range of up to 385 miles. Long Range Dual Motor variants use an AWD configuration pushing output to 544 hp and 686 Nm of torque. Sprinting from 0 to 62 mph takes 3.8 seconds, with a range of up to 367 miles. Charging capabilities reach up to 200 kW DC, enabling a 10% to 80% recharge in approximately 30 minutes under optimal conditions. Dual Motor variants feature semi-active suspension setups, whereas models fitted with the top-tier Performance Pack gain upgraded Brembo four-piston brakes, 22-inch forged alloy wheels, and a stiffer chassis calibration.
Practicality
Despite its sloping coupe silhouette, the extended wheelbase of 2,999 mm ensures generous legroom for rear passengers. Rear headroom remains spacious due to the repositioned structural cross-member. Boot capacity stands at 526 litres with the rear seats in place, expanding to 1,536 litres when the 60/40 split-folding rear bench is dropped flat. Up front, a small 15-litre frunk offers dedicated storage for charging cables.
Buying
Pricing for the Polestar 4 opens at £53,750 for the Long Range Single Motor, while the Long Range Dual Motor starts from £65,750. Rather than traditional equipment trim levels, Polestar offers the base vehicle alongside structured equipment packages. Pilot Pack adds semi-autonomous drive assistance, adaptive cruise control, and automatic lane-change functionality. Plus Pack adds 22 kW AC onboard charging, head-up display, Harman Kardon audio system, power-reclining heated rear seats, and Pixel LED headlights. Pro Pack adds 21-inch alloy wheels and subtle interior/exterior cosmetic highlights. Performance Pack is available exclusively on Dual Motor derivatives, adding Brembo performance brakes, 22-inch wheels, Swedish Gold details, and chassis tuning by Polestar Engineered. The EV Hub Recommended Configuration is the Long Range Single Motor paired with the Plus Pack. It retains the maximum 385-mile range, provides more than adequate performance, and adds essential comfort tech such as the upgraded sound system, 22 kW AC charging, and matrix lighting.
