Overview
The Cupra Raval arrives as a sharp, performance-oriented entry into the rapidly expanding compact electric hatchback market. Built on the FWD MEB-Entry platform, shared with siblings from Volkswagen and Skoda, the Raval positions itself as the rebellious, sporty option in the line-up. Designed and developed in Barcelona and manufactured in Martorell, Spain, it aims to deliver an agile, hot-hatch driving experience while providing an accessible entry point into the EV market.
Design
The design language of the Cupra Raval is aggressive and athletic, ment to command a strong presence. The front is dominated by a bold lower grille and Cupra's signature tri-LED matrix headlights. Sculpted bumpers, aerodynamic body creases, and strong wheel arches give the car a purposeful stance on the road. The side shows off flush door handles that extend and light up on approach, flowing into a coupe-like roofline. At the rear, the high-tech theme continues with a full-width LED light bar that integrates 3D infinity lights and an illuminated Cupra badge. Depending on the chosen trim level, the hatchback rides on either 18-inch Defier or 19-inch Vandal copper and Rebel sulphur alloy wheels.
Interior
Inside, the cabin features a driver-focused layout that balances sustainable materials with technology. The minimalist dashboard holds a prominent 12.9-inch floating touchscreen which is complemented by a large 10.3-inch digital driver display behind the steering wheel. Copper accents elevate the premium feel, while high-spec variants offer Next Gen Smartlight ambient styling, 3D knitted Cup-Bucket seats upholstered in vegan leather, and a 12-speaker, 475W Sennheiser AMBEO immersive sound system. While the tech is fast and snappy, it relies heavily on touch-sensitive slider controls for cabin volume and temperature adjustment rather than physical keys.

Performance & Powertrains
The FWD platform deploys a next-generation permanent magnet brushless motor. Buyers can choose between two main battery capacities. An entry-level 37kWh LFP pack or a larger 52kWh NMC battery. Power outputs scale across four tiers, starting at 116hp or 135hp for smaller battery setups, rising to 211hp on mid-range variants, and topping out at the VZ trim. The 37kWh battery achieves a range of 186 miles, making it suitable for standard urban commutes. The 52kWh pack pushes driving range up to 280 miles in the V1 trim. Rapid DC charging capabilities peak at 105kW, allowing the battery to replenish from 10% to 80% capacity in approximately 24 minutes. The Raval stands apart from its platform rivals through a 10mm wider track and an electronic limited-slip differential.
Practicality
Measuring just over 4.0 metres in length, the Raval maximizes its cabin size efficiently. Front space provides generous room and highly adjustable seating, while the rear row is surprisingly spacious, allowing two tall adults to sit comfortably. Practicality is a core strength, delivering a class-leading 441-litre boot made possible by the FWD configuration clearing out the space between the rear wheels. The cargo area features an adjustable boot floor, hidden lower cable storage, and integrated bag hooks.
Buying
The Cupra Raval line-up launches with three distinct trim levels: Origin, V1, and V2 Launch Edition, with entry prices starting around £23,785 to remain highly competitive against rivals like the Renault 5. The entry-level Origin trim comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, Pulse sport seats, and Adaptive Cruise Control. The V1 trim is adds 18-inch alloy wheels and heated front seats. Upgrading to the V2 Launch Edition adds premium visual and audio flair via 19-inch Vandal copper alloy wheels, electric Dinamica bucket seats, Matrix LED headlights, and the premium Sennheiser sound system. The EV Hub recommended configuration is the V1 trim paired with the 52kWh battery. This secures the maximum possible range of 280 miles while bundling together the most desirable features, without paying the premium or enduring the stiffer ride of the track-focused VZ variant.
