The Jaguar Type 00 is a radical, all-electric grand tourer concept that signals a complete reboot for the British brand. Unveiled as a manifesto for Jaguar's dramatic pivot upmarket, the concept acts as a design blueprint for an incoming family of ultra-luxury electric vehicles built on the bespoke Jaguar Electric Architecture. Positioning itself far above previous production models, the Type 00 targets the exclusive £120,000-plus luxury tier, directly challenging premium EVs like the Porsche Taycan and the Rolls-Royce Spectre.

Design & Interior

The exterior of the Type 00 introduces a modernist design language defined by long, flat surfaces, a remarkably low profile, and a dramatic dash-to-axle proportion that emphasizes an elongated bonnet reminiscent of the classic E-Type. Measuring 5.4 metres in length, the silhouette features a fastback roofline, forward-hinged butterfly doors, and 23-inch alloy wheels. The front discards a conventional grille for Jaguar's strikethrough graphic; a 16-bar linear motif that repeats on the bonnet, wheels, and rear light cluster.

Inside, the cabin completely avoids traditional leather, instead using sustainable, high-end materials like cream-coloured Kvadrat textiles. The low-slung bucket seats feature a unique stitchless construction to create a seamless aesthetic. A striking structural element made from genuine Travertine stone veneer runs down the center console, accented by a solid brass spine dividing the passenger space. Digital displays and switchgear are kept to a strict minimum, relying on deployable, hidden technology that reveal itself only when required. A full-length glass roof spans the cabin to bring light into the low-slung interior, compensating for the complete absence of a rear window.

Other Technical Specifications

The vehicle is underpinned by a highly rigid aluminum skateboard platform housing a thin 120 kWh battery pack operating at 850V. The tri-motor setup pairs a single 350 bhp electric motor on the front axle and two separate motors at the rear capable of a combined 950 bhp, establishing a permanent AWD system with a variable torque split biased 70% to the rear. Peak torque is rated at just over 1,000 lb-ft, allowing the 2.5-tonne grand tourer to accelerate from 0-60 mph in approximately 3.5 seconds. For efficient cruising, the rear inverters can completely deactivate. The chassis features a three-chamber independent air suspension system alongside rear-wheel steering to ensure agile low-speed handling and exceptional high-speed dampening.

Production Plans

While the Type 00 itself is a two-door concept built purely as a design showcase, it directly previews a production-ready four-door grand tourer called the Type 01. Prototypes of the production model are already undergoing track testing, including winter calibration on frozen lakes and high-speed public tracking events like the Monaco Formula E race. Restructuring is underway to facilitate low-volume production at JLR's Solihull facility, with the customer-ready vehicle scheduled for a debut later in 2026.
