Overview

The Leapmotor T03 is a fully electric five-door A-segment city car aimed directly at budget-conscious urban drivers. The T03 positions itself as one of the most accessible EVs on sale, providing a direct alternative to models such as the Dacia Spring. Despite its entry-level price point, it attempts to redefine the value proposition in the small EV segment by delivering a remarkably high level of standard equipment, a practical five-door layout, and a usable driving range that comfortably outpaces standard daily commuting requirements.

Design

Measuring 3,620 mm in length, 1,652 mm in width, and 1,577 mm in height, the Leapmotor T03 features upright, tall proportions for urban environments. Its exterior is defined by a friendly, curved front fascia with expressive halogen headlights flanked by distinctive circular LED daytime running light signatures. The side profile reveals short overhangs, body-coloured door handles, and standard 15-inch alloy wheels that give the car a cheerful, modern appearance. A prominent feature rarely found in this segment is the standard panoramic glass roof, which sweeps across the cabin ceiling to complement the clean, uncluttered rear lighting design.

Interior

Despite its compact exterior, the T03 utilizes a vertical dashboard layout and elevated roofline to create an impressively airy interior environment capable of accommodating 4 adults. Interior quality favours durable hard plastics built for daily wear, but the cabin is elevated by modern digital interfaces. The dashboard features an 8-inch digital instrument cluster behind the multi-function steering wheel and a floating 10.1-inch central touchscreen. The infotainment system controls primary vehicle functions, satellite navigation, and media playback, supported by over-the-air software updates. Sports-style fabric seats, electric windows all round, and a power-operated sunblind for the panoramic glass roof come fitted as standard.

Performance & Powertrains

Powering the front wheels of the Leapmotor T03 is a single permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 95 hp and 158 Nm of torque. This propels the vehicle from 0-62 mph in 12.7 seconds, reaching a top speed of 81 mph. Energy is supplied by a 37kWh battery pack, delivering a range of up to 165 miles. For charging, peak DC rapid charging capability stands at 48 kW, enabling a 30% to 80% charge in approximately 36 minutes. Around town, the vehicle delivers responsive acceleration, light steering with a tight 9.7-metre turning circle, and a supple ride that absorbs urban road imperfections well.

Practicality

The 5-door configuration of the T03 makes rear-seat access straightforward compared to traditional 3-door city cars. Interior storage includes a central console compartment, glovebox, door bins, and integrated cup holders. Boot capacity sits at 210 litres with all 4 seats in place. When extra cargo volume is needed, the single-piece folding rear seatback collapses to expand total luggage space to 880 litres.

Buying

The Leapmotor T03 is priced at £15,995, with manufacturer grants reducing that further. Leapmotor simplifies the buying process by offering the T03 in a single, fully loaded trim level with no optional equipment packages required. Standard specification includes the complete safety suite with adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, lane keep assist, and autonomous emergency braking, rear parking camera with sensors, panoramic roof, 15-inch alloy wheels, and dual digital screens. The EV Hub recommended configuration has to be the standard T03 single-trim specification.
