Audi's refreshed Q4 e-tron lineup is poised to make waves in the premium compact electric SUV arena. Using the Volkswagen Group's MEB platform, shared with the Volkswagen ID.4 and Skoda Enyaq, this update excels with improved efficiency, quality, and technology, setting it apart from mainstream competitors. Design
Audi has enhanced the Q4 e-tron's exterior to ensure it commands attention. The front sports a revised fascia with dark grey Audi rings seamlessly blended into the closed-off Singleframe grille. This is complemented by new intelligent Matrix LED headlights, offering four digital light patterns that drivers can control through the infotainment system. The vehicle's striking lines and broad stance are accentuated by new metallic paint options like Plasma Blue, Volcano Grey, and Sage Green, alongside five fresh wheel designs. At the rear, upgraded OLED tail-lights, linked by a full-width light bar, provide a safety feature by lighting up when another vehicle approaches too closely.
Interior
Inside, the Q4 e-tron has transformed into a tech-savvy haven, known as the Digital Stage. The highlight is a panoramic curved display incorporating an 11.9-inch driver's screen and a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Upper trims add a 12.0-inch passenger display. A redesigned center console includes dual 15-watt cooled wireless phone chargers, freeing up space below. Audi's new One Connected Infotainment system, featuring ChatGPT integration, is complemented by ambient lighting across the dashboard.
Performance & Powertrains
Significant updates to the Q4 e-tron's core include a highly efficient rear axle motor and updated power electronics. The entry-level model offers a 63kWh battery, while larger versions boast an 82kWh pack with improved cell chemistry, providing ranges of 280 or 368 miles. Both models support rapid DC charging at 185 kW, enabling a 10 to 80 percent charge in about 24 to 27 minutes. Notably, the Q4 e-tron introduces bidirectional Vehicle-to-Load functionality, allowing it to export 2.3 kW of power via a domestic socket or an adapter.
Practicality
Despite its compact size, the Q4 e-tron maximizes interior space, offering roominess similar to larger SUVs. Rear passengers enjoy a flat floor for excellent leg and headroom, even in the Sportback model. The SUV variant features a practical 520-liter boot, expanding to 1,490 liters with the rear seats folded flat, and includes an electric tailgate as standard.
Buying
Pricing for the updated Q4 e-tron starts at £46,955 for the SUV and £48,855 for the Sportback. Audi is expected to offer various trims, from the base Sport to the sleek S Line, the Black Edition, and the luxurious Vorsprung. The EV Hub suggests opting for the Audi Q4 Sport SUV with the larger 82kWh battery, which provides a robust 282 bhp motor and a maximum 337-mile range, while keeping costs reasonable compared to higher trims.
