Overview
Kia has disrupted the light commercial vehicle sector with the PV5 Cargo, its first purpose-built electric van constructed on the flexible E-GMP.S platform. Positioned as a direct challenger to established electric mid-sized vans like the Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo and Toyota Proace Electric, it represents a clean-sheet approach to business transport. It focuses heavily on modularity, zero emissions, and exceptional value that undercuts conventional diesel and electric alternatives.
Design
The exterior showcases a geometric, futuristic design defined by Kia's clean digital front and a distinctive lighting signature that sweeps up into the A-pillars. Practical design choices dominate the profile, featuring completely flat side panels that are ideal for business livery and branding. It also integrates highly durable, easily replaceable bumper corners to keep maintenance and repair costs minimal over the vehicle's life.
Interior
The cab layout prioritises ergonomics and digital integration, matching hard-wearing materials with a dual-screen setup consisting of a 7.5-inch driver cluster and a 12.9-inch main touchscreen infotainment system. Storage is managed by a central sliding tray that turns the cabin into a functional mobile office space, though the dashboard lacks covered storage cubbies. The cabin operates exclusively as a comfortable two-seater at launch, ensuring maximum space for both occupants without cramping the front workspace.

Performance & Powertrains
Drivers can select between a standard-range 51kWh battery paired with a 120 hp front-mounted electric motor, or a long-range 71kWh battery pack developing 160 hp. The 51kWh pack delivers an electric range of up to 184 miles, while the 71kWh variant increases the range up to 258 miles. Both iterations support rapid DC charging speeds up to 150 kW, enabling a 10% to 80% charge in under 30 minutes, and deliver an incredibly refined, supple ride on the road.
Practicality
Offered initially in the L2H1 body configuration, the rear load area accommodates up to 4.4 cubic metres of volume, which is perfectly proportioned to carry two standard Euro pallets. Access is streamlined by 180-degree opening rear barn doors, a nearside sliding door, and a remarkably low rear step-in height of just 41.9cm for easy loading. Maximum payload capabilities range between 690kg and 790kg depending on the selected battery size, with the standard-range battery offering the higher weight capacity at the expense of outright range.
Buying
The lineup is split across two main trim levels, Essential and Plus, with retail prices starting from £33,666 and stretching up to £39,066 including VAT. Every variant is covered by a comprehensive 7-year or 100,000-mile manufacturer warranty for long-term peace of mind. The EV Hub recommended configuration is the long-range 71kWh variant in the Plus trim, as it secures the maximum 258-mile driving range alongside a superior suite of equipment and safety assistance systems.
