Overview

The Mercedes-Benz eVito is a mid-size electric panel van competing directly with popular zero-emission commercial vans like the Vauxhall Vivaro Electric, Peugeot e-Expert, and Ford E-Transit Custom. Positioned as a premium option in the medium LCV sector, it brings the brand's refinement, safety technology, and build quality to urban delivery fleets and independent tradespeople. Upgraded with a significantly larger battery, the eVito offers an effective range and rapid charging speeds that make it a highly practical alternative to traditional diesel vans.

Design

The eVito retains the sleek, professional silhouette of the internal combustion Vito. Up front, a prominent three-slat grille houses the central Mercedes-Benz star, flanked by angular halogen or optional LED Intelligent Lights. Clean side profiling, functional plastic bumpers, and a charge port integrated into the front left bumper keep the overall design uncluttered and durable for daily commercial duties. It is available in two distinct lengths: Long (L2) and Extra Long (L3).

Interior

Inside the cabin, the eVito features a durable, driver-focused dashboard built to withstand heavy use. A standard 3-seat layout features hard-wearing fabric, heating for the driver's seat, and a high-set seating position that provides excellent forward visibility. The centre console houses a touchscreen MBUX infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and integrated digital radio. Drivers also benefit from standard air conditioning, a multifunction leather steering wheel, and paddles to easily adjust regenerative braking.

Performance & Powertrains

Under the hood sits a single electric motor delivering 114 hp and 360 Nm of instantaneous torque to the front wheels, providing responsive performance and quiet cruising. Power is supplied by a 60 kWh battery pack, which yields a range of up to 159 miles on a single charge. The van supports 11 kW AC 3-phase charging alongside 80 kW DC rapid charging as standard, enabling a 10% to 80% charge replenishment in around 35 minutes at a suitable public rapid charger.

Practicality

Because the battery is packaged beneath the floor pan, cargo space is completely uncompromised compared to combustion Vito variants. The L2 variant delivers 6.0 cubic metres of load volume, while the extended L3 model increases capacity to 6.6 cubic metres, allowing both variants to comfortably accommodate up to 2 Euro pallets. Access is straightforward thanks to twin sliding side doors and 180-degree opening rear barn doors as standard. Payload limits stand at up to 794kg depending on the selected body size.

Buying

Pricing for the Mercedes-Benz eVito starts at £43,600 excluding VAT and before any government Plug-in Van Grants are applied. The trims are structured around 2 main grades: Progressive and Premium. Progressive models offer active brake assist, attention assist, driver seat heating, and reversing camera coverage. Upgrading to Premium trim adds body-coloured bumpers, 17-inch alloy wheels, metallic paint, and chrome interior accents. The EV Hub recommended configuration is the eVito L2 Panel Van in Premium trim. It provides an ideal blend of 6.0 cubic metres of cargo capacity, standard 80 kW DC rapid charging, and elevated exterior presentation that enhances business image and resale value.
