Overview

Unveiled at Monterey Car Week, the Lucid Gravity X concept reimagines the brand's luxury 3-row electric SUV as a trail-ready overlanding adventure vehicle. Built upon the foundation of the Lucid Gravity Grand Touring, this one-off design study explores how Lucid's ultra-efficient powertrain and packaging can adapt to rugged off-road terrain. It aims to combine supercar-level electric performance and 7-seat family utility with authentic, all-terrain capability.

Key Features

  • Lifted ride height, a 40 mm wider track per side, and redesigned bumpers engineered to improve approach and departure angles
  • 20-inch wheels fitted with aggressive all-terrain tires, protective underbody skid plates and exposed tow hooks
  • Custom roof cargo tray equipped with integrated LED auxiliary light bars and modular crossbars for overlanding gear
  • Bodywork featuring etched topographical maps of iconic California road trip locations such as Big Sur and Death Valley
  • Bespoke cabin styling with bright orange accent stitching, a microsuede-wrapped steering wheel, and durable trail-focused materials

Design & Interior

The exterior design of the Gravity X retains the sleek, monolithic silhouette of the standard Gravity while injecting a far more rugged, adventurous stance. Redesigned front and rear bumpers provide clearance for steep inclines, complemented by protective body cladding and heavy-duty underbody skid plates. Visual impact is heightened through contrasting bright orange highlights on the tow hooks and badging, balanced by custom topographical map graphics etched directly into the paintwork. A roof rack system with an integrated high-output LED light bar further underscores its overlanding aesthetic.

Inside, the cabin maintains the spacious 3-rows capable of seating up to 7 adults, but elevates the adventure theme through bespoke trim options. Vibrant orange accents run across the dashboard, seats, and door panels, contrasting with durable dark upholstery and a tactile microsuede-wrapped cuboid steering wheel. The digital centerpiece remains the sweeping 34-inch curved OLED driver display running Lucid UX, complemented by a large central touchscreen controlling off-road telemetry, vehicle settings, and the 22-speaker Surreal Sound audio system.

Other Technical Specifications

Underneath its trail-focused modifications, the Gravity X concept utilizes the advanced 900-volt electrical architecture from the Gravity. Dual ultra-compact electric motors deliver a combined output of 828 bhp and 1,232 Nm of torque to all 4 wheels, enabling 0-60 mph acceleration in approximately 3.4 seconds. Energy is supplied by a 123 kWh battery, providing an estimated range of around 440 miles despite the additional drag from the modifications. Ultra-fast DC fast-charging capabilities allow the vehicle to regain 248 miles of range in just 14 minutes at peak charging rates reaching 400 kW.

Production Plans

Lucid created the Gravity X as a one-of-one concept vehicle to gauge public interest and explore design ideas for future products. While the exact concept as shown is not slated for immediate series production, individual elements, such as the modular roof storage system, off-road wheel packages, and raised suspension modes, could eventually form an optional adventure pack or inspire a dedicated Grand Touring X production trim in future model years.
