The Audi A6 Avant e-tron marks a decisive shift in the executive electric wagon market, bringing Audi's iconic estate body style into a zero-emission era. Developed on the 800V Premium Platform Electric co-developed with Porsche, the A6 Avant e-tron takes aim directly at rivals like the BMW i5 Touring. Occupying a crucial position in Audi's portfolio, it blends a hyper-aerodynamic aesthetic with immense real-world usability. Design
Sleek proportions and precise aerodynamic shaping define the exterior of the A6 Avant e-tron, achieving an exceptional drag coefficient of just 0.24. At the front, the inverted Singleframe grille sits flush, enclosed in high-gloss black on upper trims and flanked by ultra-slim, configurable digital daytime running lights positioned above LED matrix headlights. A long wheelbase, short overhangs, and a sweeping, low-slung roofline give the Avant a muscular profile. High-tech features include flush-fitting door handles and optional second-generation camera wingmirrors. The rear features a continuous dynamic light strip housing customizable second-generation digital OLED taillights along with an illuminated four-rings badge.
Interior
The cabin is centered around a human-centric digital layout, dominated by a curved MMI panoramic display. This setup pairs an 11.9-inch Audi virtual cockpit for the driver with a 14.5-inch MMI central touchscreen. Front passengers can be treated to an optional dedicated 10.9-inch display equipped with a privacy mode to stream media without distracting the driver. Material selection leans heavily into sustainability, with extensive use of Dinamica microfibre, soft-touch textiles, and synthetic leather across the dashboard and door casings. Underpinned by the 800V PPE architecture, the A6 Avant e-tron is available in RWD and quattro AWD configurations. The line-up opens with an entry RWD variant featuring a 83kWh battery and a single 282PS motor, doing 0-62mph in 6.0 seconds. The mid-tier A6 Avant e-tron performance pairs a larger 100kWh battery with a rear-mounted motor producing up to 380PS with launch control, accelerating from 0-62mph in 5.4 seconds with an impressive range of 464 miles. The flagship dual-motor e-tron quattro develops 462PS, slashing the 0-62mph sprint to 4.5 seconds. Thanks to 800V technology, 100kWh models accept rapid charging speeds up to 270kW, allowing a 10 to 80% top-up in just 21 minutes. Adaptive air suspension provides a superb balance of high-speed long-distance cruising refinement and tight body control on twisting back roads.
Practicality
Despite its aerodynamic, sloping roofline, the A6 Avant e-tron maintains genuine estate versatility. Rear-seat passenger space is generous, providing excellent knee and headroom for tall adults due to the flat floor, although the middle rear seat is narrower. The rear boot delivers a cargo capacity of 502 litres with all seats in place, expanding to 1,422 litres when the 40:20:40 split-folding rear bench is dropped. Complementing the boot is a useful 27-litre frunk, which provides ideal storage for charging cables and smaller items.
Buying
Pricing starts at £64,390 for the standard RWD Sport model, rising to £84,615 for top-tier Vorsprung models. Trim levels follow Audi's established hierarchy: Sport, S Line, Black Edition, and Vorsprung. Standard kit includes Matrix LED headlights, three-zone climate control, heated front seats, the twin-screen MMI display, and a full suite of driver safety systems. The EV Hub recommended configuration is the S Line Performance trim. This setup includes the larger 100kWh battery, unlocking the maximum range alongside 270kW DC charging speeds. S Line trim strikes the best value-to-equipment balance, adding sharper exterior bumper styling, rear privacy glass, sportier seats, and sport suspension tuning without paying the premium for Vorsprung model.
