Overview

The Audi SQ6 e-tron positions itself as the high-performance spearhead of Audi's premium electric SUV lineup. Built on the sophisticated Premium Platform Electric co-developed with Porsche, it bridges the gap between a luxury family SUV and track-inspired Sportback. Serving as a more aggressive alternative to the standard Q6 e-tron, the SQ6 targets driving enthusiasts who refuse to sacrifice everyday premium comfort. It competes directly at the upper end of the electric luxury market against established rivals such as the BMW iX and Lucid Gravity.

Design

The exterior styling represents an evolution of Audi's traditional SUV design language rather than a radical change. It features a commanding, upright stance highlighted by a prominent, closed-off, Singleframe grille that sits between sleek, dual-tier front lights. The upper daytime running lights are separated from the main Matrix LED headlights in the front bumper. Muscular wheel arches and a high shoulder line emphasize its sporty theme, while the rear features a continuous digital light strip capable of displaying customizable active lighting signatures. For buyers seeking a sleeker silhouette, Audi offers both a traditional SUV body style and a sleek Sportback variant with a lower, sweeping roofline.

Interior

Inside, the cabin introduces a digital-first layout arranged around what Audi calls the Digital Stage. This panoramic setup combines an 11.9-inch virtual cockpit and a massive 14.5-inch central touchscreen into a single curved housing. Front passengers can also be entertained with their own optional 10.9-inch display, which features a privacy mode to prevent the driver getting distracted. The overall design uses a soft wrap philosophy, balance-coating critical areas with soft, tactile premium fabrics and Nappa leather to break up the gloss-black plastic surfaces. Dynamic ambient interaction lighting sweeps underneath the windscreen to communicate charging progress or safety alerts, directly to the passengers.

Performance & Powertrains

Propulsion is delivered by a dual-motor, AWD system that outputs of 483 hp, escalating to 510 hp when in launch control. This enables the SUV to complete the 0-62 mph sprint in a swift 4.3 seconds before hitting a top electronic limit of 142 mph. Electrical energy is stored in a large 100kWh battery pack, for a range of up to 364 miles for the standard SUV and up to 370 miles for the more aerodynamic Sportback variant. Benefitting from a 800V electrical architecture, the SQ6 e-tron supports ultra-rapid DC charging speeds of up to 270 kW, allowing a 10% to 80% replenishment in just 21 minutes. On the road, standard adaptive air suspension and rear-biased torque distribution deliver crisp handling and tightly-controlled body roll, though the ride naturally skews toward the firmer side to maintain its sportyness.

Practicality

Despite it being performance-oriented, the SQ6 e-tron remains inherently practical as a 5-seat family EV. This takes the advantages of the dedicated PPE platform allow for a completely flat floor in the rear, ensuring generous legroom and comfort for adult passengers, alongside surprising headroom underneath the panoramic glass roof. The main rear luggage compartment provides a highly usable 514 litres of space with the seats upright, which expands to 1,517 litres when the 40:20:40 split-folding rear bench is lowered. Up front, a dedicated 64-litre frunk sits beneath the bonnet, providing the ideal location to house charging cables completely separate from the main luggage area.

Buying

The Audi SQ6 e-tron sits at the premium tier of the lineup, with UK pricing starting from £86,900 and rising up toward £96,900 on the Sportback Vorsprung trim. Base Black Editions come exceptionally well-equipped, featuring standard fitments like Matrix LED headlights, adjustable air suspension, the panoramic dual-screen cockpit, and premium Nappa leather sports seats. The EV Hub recommended configuration for optimizing both premium style and maximum electric efficiency is the SQ6 Sportback e-tron in Black Edition trim, which couples the sharper, more aerodynamic silhouette with sleek exterior finishes while unlocking the full 370-mile range potential.
