Overview
The Jaguar Type 01 represents a monumental shift for the British company, as the first production vehicle in Jaguar's complete relaunch into an ultra-luxury electric-only brand. Positioned as a dramatic, four-door grand tourer, the Type 01 targets exclusive territory above traditional premium offerings, lining up against electric flagships such as the Bentley Torcal and BMW i7 M70. Grounded on the bespoke Jaguar Electric Architecture, the model fills a niche, uncompromising market segment designed with state-of-the-art engineering, and immense performance.
Design
Measuring over 5.2 metres in length with a low profile of just 1.4 metres, the Type 01 exhibits classic grand touring proportions marked by an elongated bonnet, a swept-back cabin, and a dramatic rear overhang. Minimalist surfaces dominate the exterior, where frameless doors meet the body cleanly without visible window trims. Flush door handles, hidden sensor arrays, and a three-stage active rear spoiler preserve the look. The front fascia is defined by a squared-off snout and ultra-slim lighting signatures. Most strikingly, the rear eliminates a rear windscreen entirely in favour of a solid body panel, highlighted by horizontal bands housing the rear tailights. Massive 23-inch alloy wheels fill the broad arches, giving the vehicle an imposing stance.
Interior
Inside, the cabin blends architectural minimalism with high-end materials, drawing heavy inspiration from stone and plush wool carpets that extend up onto the lower doors. A full-length structural centre console runs between the seats to house storage, wireless phone charging, and cupholders, creating a cocooned seating feel. Technology centres around a 24-inch OLED display spanning across the driver's line of sight, complemented by a secondary central control module. Acoustics are catered for by a full-width Meridian panoramic soundbar mounted at the base of the windscreen, integrated with 25 interior speakers, active road noise cancellation, and sensory audio haptics. Seats can offer hot-stone massages.

Performance & Powertrains
The Type 01 uses a tri-motor AWD powertrain outputting a staggering 1,016 hp and 1,365 Nm of torque. Acceleration from 0 to 60 mph takes just 3.1 seconds. Energy is supplied by a massive 118 kWh battery integrated into the chassis to achieve a 50:50 weight distribution and a low centre of gravity. The Type 01 achieves an electric range of up to 450 miles. Built on an 850V electrical architecture, the vehicle features dual charging ports on either side of the front bodywork. Peak DC fast-charging rates reach 350 kW, allowing a 10-80% charge in 22 minutes or adding up to 200 miles of range in just 13 minutes. Chassis dynamics are managed by four-corner air suspension, twin-valve active dampers, torque vectoring, and rear-wheel steering.
Practicality
Given its low-slung GT proportions and dramatic exterior, the cabin is tightly packaged. The shallow window and tapered roofline dictate compact rear doors, limiting rear legroom and headroom compared to conventional executive luxury saloons. Cargo capacity is focused on a deep rear boot, as under the bonnet, there's the front chassis structural reinforcement, dual-isolated drive units, and cooling hardware. Flexible interior storage is provided along the high central spine, offering central cubbies and storage compartments for front and rear passengers.
Buying
Pricing for the Jaguar Type 01 starts from £129,950 with typical customer specifications anticipated to average around £150,000. Standard equipment includes the tri-motor powertrain, 850V charging capability, 24-inch OLED display, four-corner air suspension, all-wheel steering, 23-inch wheels, and the 26-speaker Meridian sound system. Jaguar offers extensive personalisation for bespoke paint options and custom interior materials. Orders open in early 2027, with initial customer deliveries planned for the middle of that year. The EV Hub recommended configuration features the standard 118 kWh powertrain, specified with 21-inch wheels for maximum range and efficiency alongside the interior travertine material trim.
