Overview

The Bentley Torcal marks a monumental milestone in Crewe's history as the iconic ultra-luxury manufacturer's first fully electric production vehicle, establishing an entirely-new fourth model line. Positioned as a flagship electric SUV, the Torcal merges effortless British craftsmanship with cutting-edge electric architecture from Porsche. Developed to sit above mainstream electric luxury offerings, this high-riding grand tourer directly targets elite contenders like the Rolls-Royce Spectre and Range Rover Electric. The Torcal serves as a foundational template for all future electrified models from the brand. It aims to demonstrate that zero-emissions driving can deliver the signature waftability, emotional engagement, and grand touring long associated with Bentley's heritage.

Design

Visually, the Bentley Torcal introduces a transformed design that respects decades of heritage while pushing into an aerodynamic electric era. Guided by the principle of upright elegance, the front features a distinctive illuminated diamond grille and endless bonnet profile reminiscent of classic models like the 1996 Continental T. Classic quad-headlights are paired with ultra-slim daytime running lights mounted overhead. The long wheelbase and short overhangs emphasize power and athletic proportion. The cabin tapers toward the rear, allowing the rear haunches to swell over the massive alloy wheels, creating a muscular stance that Bentley designers describe as the resting beast. At the rear, the new logo shows off the new shield concept first previewed on the EXP 15 concept car, while abstract diamond motifs are integrated into the surfaces and lighting elements.

Interior

Stepping into the cabin reveals a masterclass in modern luxury that balances physical controls with forward-thinking technology. The dashboard architecture retains Bentley's signature wing motif, establishing architectural symmetry across the cockpit. Authenticity remains central to the materials selected, with sustainably- produced olive tan leathers in fifteen shades, pure Merino wool upholstery options, six natural open-pore wood veneers, and precision-knurled aluminum controls. Physical switches and reinterpreted bullseye air vents are retained on the steering wheel and center console. Digital interaction includes bespoke curved OLED displays that provide deep contrast and great visibility for drivers and passengers. Facial recognition identifies the driver instantly upon entry, automatically adjusting seating, mirror positioning, climate setups, and driver assistance preferences. Smartphone integration includes a Mobile Device Key, while custom driving soundtracks recorded by professional musicians are inspired by Bentley's legendary V8 engines.

Performance & Powertrains

Mechanical foundation relies on a massive 113 kWh battery pack driving a dual-motor AWD powertrain. In standard specification, the Torcal outputs a formidable 820 hp and 1,194 Nm of torque, sprinting from 0-60 mph in a rapid 3.3 seconds before reaching a top speed of 155 mph. The flagship Torcal S elevates outputs to an incredible 875 hp and 1,350 Nm of peak torque with Launch Control active, dropping the 0 to 60 mph sprint to just 2.8 seconds and increasing top speed to 162 mph. Range is equally impressive, offering up to 373 miles (600 km) on a single charge. Fast-charging capabilities allow charging from 10 to 80% in just 16 minutes at 400 KW. Chassis dynamics are elevated by Bentley Active Ride, a next-generation active suspension featuring twin-valve dampers on each wheel connected to individual hydraulic pumps, paired with four-wheel steering that reduces the turning circle to 11 meters.

Practicality

Despite its sweeping grand touring profile, the Torcal prioritizes real-world usability and effortless passenger accommodation. Its generous wheelbase translates directly into vast legroom and headroom for both front and rear occupants, making long-distance travel exceptionally relaxed. The boot provides a broad, flat load surface capable of storing multiple sets of golf bags or full luggage sets with ease. Clever packaging inside incorporates hidden cubbies, wireless smartphone charges, and generous door bins. Driver assistance includes Intelligent Park Assist, Remote Park Assist operated via the My Bentley smartphone app for tight garages, Garage Assist with automated route memory, and Reversing Assist, which remembers the previous 50 meters driven to automatically guide the vehicle out of narrow driveways or parking spaces.

Buying

The Bentley Torcal launches with two primary model derivatives: the Torcal Core and the higher-performance Torcal S. Pricing starts at £173,300 for the standard core model, rising to £199,300 for the fully loaded Torcal S. Standard equipment across the lineup is lavish, including satin silver exterior trim, Open Pore Crown Cut Walnut veneers, full adaptive active suspension, four-wheel steering, curved OLED displays, and comprehensive driver assistance technologies. Customization options through Bentley's Mulliner division remain virtually limitless, offering bespoke paint finishes, unique interior color splits, and technical material trims. The EV Hub recommended configuration is the Torcal Core finished in Teal exterior paint over a Linen and Imperial Blue dual-tone interior with open-pore wood finishes. This setup delivers optimal ride comfort, full 373-mile range, and incredible 820 hp performance, striking the perfect blend of classic British luxury and modern zero-emission grand touring.
